Components of a User

A user is comprised of the following components.

User ID

The primary key to be used to identify the user.

  1. It is entered at the PowerLender Login window (unless auto login is engaged). Every user should have their own unique user ID as all audit and change logging is identified with this ID.

User Name

Full name of the user. The name appears in the listing of users.

Auto Login Name

For automatic login and to bypass the initial PowerLender Login window, enter the name matching the network login name for the user.

Access Password

To access PowerLender by typing an access password, the user enters their user ID and a password at the PowerLender Login window.

  1. The password length is a minimum of six characters and a maximum of 15 characters. The password can have special characters like %, #, *, etc.
  2. A Confirm Entry window displays which prompts the user to re-enter the password for verification.

Password Valid For (Days)

A user can be assigned a length in days for which their password is valid. The value can be set to zero to disable the feature.

Force New Password At Login

Select this check box in order for a user to be forced to enter a new password at the next login.

Login Menu

Enter or use the F2 lookup to select the menu to be displayed after the user has logged into the system.

Company Code

Enter or use the F2 lookup to select a company code if needed. If company codes are not a part of your security plan, leave this option blank.

Access Level

Enter or use the F2 lookup to specify an access level which limits access to functions. Users can access screens that have access requirements equal to or less than their user access level. A PowerLender administrator cannot assign any user an access level higher than their own.

  1. I - Inquiry Only - View application information. No ability to change data.
  2. O - Operator - View and change application information and perform certain application maintenance and utilities.
  3. P - Preferred Operator - Access to all application functions and selected setup functions.
  4. S - Supervisor - Access to all setup functions and PowerLender system administration tools.

Member Of Groups

Enter or use the F2 lookup to specify groups. Assign users to one or more groups. Each group is represented by a group ID.

Activity Logging

Enter or use the F2 lookup to specify an activity logging level which determines which activities are logged to the user's log file located in the \PowerLender\LOG\ subdirectory. The log file name is <workstation name>.LOG where <workstation name> is the network name of the station the user is logged in on.

  1. 0 - log failed, sign on, script/batch/unrecoverable errors
  2. 1 - level 0 + log menu selections and functions performed
  3. 2 - level 1 + log records created, updated, or deleted
  4. 3 - level 2 + log data entered and errors detected (includes memory usage)
  5. 4 - level 3 + log database commands

Time Out Minutes

Exits PowerLender after no activity for this number of minutes. The time out can be set from 0/blank minutes (no timeout) to 255 minutes.
